About The Position
Easterseals Florida's Explorer Academy is seeking a dependable, caring, and flexible Substitute Teacher / Teacher Assistant to support early childhood classrooms during staff absences, vacations, and periods of high enrollment. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about early childhood education who desire flexibility in working with different age groups while fostering children's learning, growth, and development in a safe and nurturing environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- Ability to complete Florida DCF 45-Hour Child Care Training within the first 90 days of employment
- Positive, patient, and nurturing approach when working with children
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexible, dependable, and eager to learn
- Commitment to developmentally appropriate practices and Easterseals values
Nice To Haves
- Experience working with young children preferred
- Experience supporting children with disabilities or special needs preferred
- Current CPR and First Aid certification preferred
Responsibilities
- Providing classroom coverage across multiple age groups
- Following lesson plans, daily schedules, and teacher guidance
- Supervising children and ensuring a safe learning environment
- Assisting with learning activities, meals, outdoor play, rest time, and daily routines
- Supporting children's social, emotional, and developmental growth
- Encouraging language development through meaningful conversations and open-ended questions
- Maintaining attendance records and classroom documentation
- Communicating professionally with families and team members
- Keeping classrooms clean, organized, and compliant with health and safety standards
- Adapting to various classrooms and serving as a positive role model
- Participating in training and professional development opportunities
- Performing other duties as needed to support program operations
