About The Position

Substitute Teacher Assistants are responsible for supporting teachers in the classroom, participating in instructional opportunities, and fostering a positive learning environment. This role requires individuals who can interact effectively with students, staff, and parents, while demonstrating good communication and computer literacy skills. Substitute Teacher Assistants must be able to work with minimal supervision and adapt to unexpected changes in their daily work pattern, while maintaining enthusiasm and a positive attitude.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) or demonstrate literacy skills necessary to work with teachers and students.
  • Complete a training program approved by Rhode Island Department of Education within three months of employment or similar certification from another state.
  • Knowledge of health, safety and emergency procedures of the learning environment.
  • Demonstrate good oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate skills in computer literacy.
  • Positive attitude.
