About The Position
Durango School District is recruiting support staff substitutes for the 2026-2027 school year. This role offers a flexible schedule and involves working with students and staff in various capacities. Substitutes may be assigned to roles such as classroom aides, clerical support, administrative assistants, media aides, bus monitors, bus drivers, and cooks. The position requires flexibility as assignments and locations can vary daily. Support staff substitutes play a crucial role in the successful operation of the schools. There may also be opportunities for classroom aide work during the summer Extended School Year program. All accepted substitutes must agree to be fingerprinted as part of the employment requirements.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Experience working with children.
- Experience in a classroom or office setting.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Basic language, math, and writing skills.
- A minimum of two professional references (family or friends are not accepted).
- Strong computer skills, including the ability to navigate an electronic system independently.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the successful operations of schools by filling various support staff roles.
- Work with students and staff in roles such as classroom aides, clerical support, administrative assistants, media aides, bus monitors, bus drivers, and cooks.
- Navigate an electronic system independently to accept and decline assignments, maintain schedules, and view assignment instructions.
- Support students in the Extended School Year program during the summer, if applicable.
