About The Position

Our Part-Time Substitute School Nurses impact students’ lives by responding with urgency to student health and hygiene needs, obtaining students’ health history, providing health assessments and ongoing counseling with students, parents, school personnel, or health agencies. They screen and evaluate deficiencies in vision, hearing, and growth, and maintain, evaluate, and interpret health data to accommodate individual student needs. Substitute School Nurses also develop and implement student health plans and develop systems and procedures to provide emergency nursing services for injuries and illnesses. They also administer medication to students, as needed.

Requirements

• Qualified to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Louisiana and hold an unrestricted license
• Certified in CPR
• Outstanding record of working in school health, community health, public health, or pediatric nursing
