About The Position

The Plaza, A Fairmont Managed hotel, is seeking a Substitute Pastry Tournant. This role reports to the Executive Pastry Chef and is responsible for assisting in the preparation and service of all pastry food items according to hotel recipes and standards. The position requires a broad knowledge of baking and cooking techniques, maintaining cleanliness of work areas, and adhering to all safety and sanitation policies. The Plaza is a historic landmark in New York City, offering luxury accommodations and dining experiences.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in the Pastry field required
  • Highly responsible & reliable
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work cohesively as part of a team
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times

Nice To Haves

  • Diploma Certification in a Culinary discipline preferred

Responsibilities

  • Consistently offer professional, friendly and proactive guest service while supporting fellow Colleagues
  • Use a broad knowledge of baking/cooking techniques and food styles to ensure consistency
  • Assist and service all pastry food items according to hotel recipes and standards
  • Maintain proper rotation of product in all chillers to minimize wastage/spoilage
  • Ensure storeroom requisitions are accurate
  • Have full knowledge of all menu items, daily features and promotions
  • Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of all work areas, utensils, and equipment
  • Follow kitchen and hotel policies, procedures and service standards
  • Follow all safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverage
  • Other duties as assigned
