About The Position

The Substitute Paraeducator supports teachers and students by assisting with instructional activities, classroom routines, supervision, and other assigned duties under the direction of certificated staff and building administrators. This is an on-call substitute position. Assignments may vary in length and are based on district needs, employee availability, and substitute placement requirements. Substitute Paraeducators may be assigned to provide coverage for daily absences, extended leaves, or other temporary staffing needs as determined by the district.

Requirements

  • Must pass a background check.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, staff, and families in a school setting.

  • Bilingual skills preferred (English/Spanish).

Responsibilities

  • Provide instructional support to students through educational activities as assigned and supervised by certificated staff.
  • Assist teachers in implementing classroom activities, maintaining instructional materials, and supporting student learning.
  • Assist in the preparation, organization, maintenance, assembly, and return of instructional materials and equipment.
  • Support student learning by reinforcing skills, directions, and classroom expectations as directed by the teacher.
  • Assist in scoring, collecting, organizing, and recording student data and information as needed.
  • Maintain and assist in the preparation of various files, records, reports, and documentation as directed.
  • Assist with student supervision within the classroom, school building, school grounds, during transitions, meals, recess, and field trips as assigned.
  • Provide support to students with academic, behavioral, social, and/or physical needs as directed by certificated staff.
  • Follow established procedures and guidelines for assigned programs and services.
  • Assist with classroom organization, preparation, and cleanup to support an effective learning environment.
  • Participate in required in services, staff development, and professional growth activities that enhance job performance and support the mission and vision of the school and district.
  • Be in attendance and on time for each assigned duty.
  • Respect and maintain confidentiality of all information and observations of a personal nature pertaining to students, parents, and staff.
  • Maintain a neat and clean appearance, be suitably dressed, and present a pleasant demeanor while serving as a positive role model for students.
  • Assist in gathering materials relevant for use in units or topics of study as directed by certificated staff.
  • Assist in following designated procedures for storing and checking books and other supplemental instructional materials.
  • Perform non-instructional duties such as supervision of students during non-instructional times.
  • Work cooperatively with students, staff, administration, families, and community members.
  • Adapt to various classroom environments, grade levels, student needs, and assignments as directed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by building administrators or designated district personnel.
