About The Position

Notre Dame de Sion is an independent Catholic grade school in historic Hyde Park, Kansas City. Founded in 1912 by the Congregation of the Sisters of Sion, the school’s mission is to provide an excellent education that transforms students’ hearts and prepares them to make an impact in the world. The Substitute Instructor delivers the provided curriculum and supervises students ranging from Montessori through eighth grade on the Grade School campus. The position is responsible for maintaining a safe learning environment, managing basic student records, and upholding the Sion mission. Substitutes may be scheduled on call, with availability needed by 6:00 a.m., the night before, or with advance notice. Faculty work hours are generally 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., unless otherwise instructed. Substitutes report to the Front Desk to receive their assignment and are expected to become familiar with the emergency evacuation routes posted in their rooms.

Requirements

Minimum of 60 college credit hours.
Knowledge and understanding of, and commitment to, the Sion mission.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated leadership and facilitative skills.
Strong public speaking skills.
Ability to interact professionally with students, parents, faculty, and staff.
Flexibility in working with a variety of faculty and students across divisions.
Ability to accept professional feedback.
Ability to work collegially with division faculty and the support team.
Competency with school-related technology.
Availability for on-call scheduling by 6:00 a.m., the night before, or with advance notice.
