About The Position

The Genesee School District is seeking a dedicated and flexible Substitute Food Service Worker to support its food service program as needed. The role helps ensure students receive nutritious meals in a safe and welcoming environment. The substitute works with the food service team and follows direction from the Food Service Manager and other staff to support efficient meal service.

Requirements

• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
• Strong communication skills and a positive attitude.
• Ability to follow instructions and adhere to safety and sanitation standards.
• Flexibility to work on short notice and adapt to varying schedules.
• Physical ability to lift and carry heavy items, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience in food service or a related field is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing and serving meals in accordance with established guidelines and menus.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in food preparation and serving areas and comply with health and safety standards.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and effectively, following operational procedures.
• Help manage inventory, including receiving and storing food supplies.
• Provide customer service to students and staff and foster a positive dining experience.
• Follow directions from the Food Service Manager and other staff to ensure efficient meal service.
• Participate in training and professional development as required.
• Perform other related duties as assigned to support the food service program.
