About The Position
Springfield Public Schools seeks outstanding candidates for the position of Substitute Custodian. This position works on-call, as needed and contributes to the appearance of the building by cleaning restrooms, classrooms, halls, office areas, and grounds.
Requirements
- Knowledge of effective cleaning practices, procedures and equipment
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions, policies and procedures in English
- Ability to communicate effectively with other employees and students using tact, courtesy and good judgment
- Self-motivated
- Willing to work as part of a team
- Ability to work varied shifts
- Ability to operate standard cleaning equipment such as vacuums and hand cleaning tools
- Ability and commitment to practice cultural competency and demonstrate respect for diversity
- Ability to physically perform assigned duties, including but not limited to: Lifting objects up to 75 lbs. Stand and walk for extended periods of time Climbs stairs and ladders
