About The Position

Substitute - On-Call position to work as needed. The purpose of this role is to perform routine and periodical cleaning tasks to maintain the cleanliness, sanitary conditions and appearance of the building or building complex. This position requires physical dexterity, fine and gross motor ability, and the ability to follow written or oral directions. The incumbent must be able to pick up and move objects weighing 50 lbs. or less, stoop, kneel, reach, climb, handle, and successfully carry out and complete cleaning duties unsupervised. The work is well-defined, and the incumbent must be able to follow a daily and weekly schedule, be aware of and obey all safety hazards, and be willing to learn and perform various cleaning tasks. The role has contact with the public, requiring tact and courtesy, and must demonstrate appropriate work behaviors at all times. The incumbent will be responsible for dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms and glass, washing lights, notifying supervisors of low supplies or equipment issues, buffing floors, operating cleaning equipment, and maintaining a neat appearance. Secondary responsibilities include attending training, assisting with snow removal, and other assigned duties. The position may require working various shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

Must be able to follow written or oral directions.

Must be capable of successfully carrying out and completing cleaning duties unsupervised.
Must be able to understand and carry out a sequence of steps given orally, by sign language, or in written form.
Must be able to follow a daily and weekly schedule.
Must be aware of and obey all safety hazards.
Must be willing to and capable of learning how to sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, lift, and empty trash, clean bathrooms, and/or operate designated types of commercial cleaning equipment.
Must pass Drug Screening and Background Check.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma preferred.
Government security clearance may be required.

Responsibilities

Dust, mop, damp mop, and vacuum floors.
Clean restrooms. This includes emptying trash, cleaning toilets, urinals, and sinks, filling dispensers, sweeping, mopping, and wiping walls and partitions.
Clean glass, stair rails, and clean walls in corridors and stairwells.
Wash lights and fixtures.
Notify supervisor when supplies are low or when there is a problem with equipment.
Buff floors.
Operate designated types of cleaning equipment.
Maintain self and clothing in a neat and clean manner and comply with uniform regulations.
Attend in-service training as required.
Assist with snow removal as required.
Other duties as assigned.
