Requirements

  • High school graduate or a General Education Diploma (GED) is required.
  • Current Certification in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI); Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR), Automatic External Defibrillator (AED), and First Aid Certification is required.
  • Ability to work in a friendly manner with co-workers and students.
  • Ability to physically manage students and equipment.
  • Ability to observe unusual student behavior and advise the Supervisor.
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all District requirements and School Board policies as it relates to the job responsibilities is essential.

Nice To Haves

  • Two or more years' experience working with school aged children is desired.
  • An Associate's degree in childcare or related field may be substituted for actual work experience at the discretion of the supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Assists assigned student(s) with entering and exiting the school district vehicle and while commuting.
  • Operates lifts for wheelchairs.
  • Secures special equipment and school-related materials that may accompany the student.
  • Is alert to any conditions in the land and unloading area that present a danger to students and others.
  • Facilitates good student conduct while enroute and follows District protocols for discipline.
  • Reports any concerns or issues to the Supervisor and/or Administrator in a timely manner.
  • Communicates in an appropriate fashion with students, parents, and employees.
  • Assists the driver, as needed.
  • Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
