Position Summary: Counseling In Schools (CIS) is currently seeking energetic, dependable, and youth-centered Substitute Activity Specialists to support our NYC after-school programs serving students in grades K–8 throughout the 2026–2027 school year. Substitute Activity Specialists will lead engaging enrichment activities and provide a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment for youth during after-school programming. Candidates should have experience working with children and expertise in at least one enrichment area such as STEAM, Leadership, Dance, Art, Theater, Gaming, Anime, Martial Arts, Cooking, Gardening, Financial Literacy, College & Career Readiness, Double Dutch, Girls Who Code, or related specialties.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with youth
- Strong communication and classroom/group management skills
- Ability to adapt quickly and support diverse student needs
- DOE and DOH clearance required
Nice To Haves
- Experience or training in a specialty area preferred
Responsibilities
- Leading engaging enrichment activities and lessons

- Collaborating with after-school staff and program leadership
- Maintaining professionalism and positive communication with students, families, and school staff
