Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of electrical theory and engineering drawings.
  • Ability to operate power tools and equipment.
  • Ability to drive trucks.
  • Valid Level I Authorization or appropriate Commercial Driver's License, and ability to meet Company driving standards.
  • Satisfactory completion of the Technical Occupations Test (TECH).
  • Demonstrated ability to write, speak, read, comprehend and communicate clearly and accurately in the English language.
  • Must be willing and able to work overtime on a regular basis and must be available for callout overtime if and when required, consistent with the Labor Agreement.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Some work experience in installation and repair of electrical equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Assists and trains in maintenance and test functions such as overhauling/repairing OCB's, VCB's, ACB's, ATB's, capacitors, potential devices, transformers, regulators, reactors, batteries/battery chargers.
  • Assists and trains in electrical test functions like timing, power factoring, moisture tests, meggar, soil resistivity, and other tests related to equipment overhaul and repair.
  • Works off ladders, platforms, lifts, and other means of egress to perform duties as a trainee.
  • Assists and trains in the use of engineering prints, instruction books, and equipment documentation.
  • Assists and trains in rigging of equipment in energized substations.
  • Escorts and directs supervisors and vendors inside energized substations.
  • Obtains work permits for assignments in energized substations.
  • Operates various equipment, including oil pumpers, man lifts, and vacuum pumps, under direction.
  • Job site reporting and working during emergencies.
  • Assisting in emergency restoration of secondary service.
  • Climbing 40 ft. structures.
