About The Position

Mesa Associates, Inc. seeks a Substation Physical Engineering Associate I to design deliverables for high-voltage substations. Deliverables typically include general arrangements, section views, grounding and conduit layouts, bills of materials, cable schedules, and construction turnover documentation. The role works under the direction of Senior Engineers and Project Engineers and involves applying engineering principles, developing design approaches and documents, and checking project deliverables for compliance with applicable standards and requirements.

Responsibilities

Complete assignments within budget and schedule while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
Work under the direction of Senior Engineers and Project Engineers.
Independently evaluate, select, and apply engineering principles and practices relevant to project requirements.
Work with the Project Engineer and Program Manager to define project objectives, prepare design estimates, and establish requirements and design approaches for large or complex projects.
Determine design approaches and work with the design team to prepare design documents, including drawings, specifications, and calculations.
Conceptualize the initial design approach for a major phase of a large project, or take overall responsibility for engineering work on a routine project.
Perform technical and coordination checks of deliverables and other project documents.
Ensure deliverables comply with IEEE and/or client standards and meet applicable design requirements.
Design high-voltage substation deliverables, including general arrangements, section views, grounding and conduit layouts, bills of materials, cable schedules, and construction turnover documentation.
