Substation Physical CADD Designer

Stanley Consultants•Austin, TX
•$40 - $50•Hybrid

About The Position

Stanley Consultants is seeking a Substation Physical CADD Designer to create physical substation design drawings and related materials. The role primarily produces equipment plans, elevations, conduit and trench plans, grounding plans, installation details, bills of material, and conduit schedules. Drawings are expected to be substantially complete and require limited engineer review and markup. The designer uses calculations, design criteria, scope of work, specifications, and an engineer’s verbal overview to develop drawings rather than relying on fully developed, marked-up details. The position works with CAD in 2D or 3D, obtains design information from manufacturers and vendors, and coordinates physical design with civil, steel structures, and foundation designs. Work spans conceptual development, design phases, construction, and as-built documentation. The designer may also support other disciplines, provide design sketches and technical guidance to technicians and designers, and assist with their training. The role exercises considerable judgment in design, layout, and coordination, and recommends actions while achieving results with moderate supervision. The position is listed as hybrid, with locations in Denver (Centennial), Colorado, or Muscatine, Iowa. Stanley Consultants describes itself as an employee-owned engineering consulting firm and highlights flexible work options, competitive pay, professional growth, and benefits. The stated hourly range is $39.66–$50.37 for the Colorado location; starting compensation depends on qualifications and experience, geographic location, internal equity, company policy, and practices.
