About The Position

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Substation Journeyman to join our team. This position will focus on substation relay and apparatus testing, with a strong emphasis on ensuring the safe and effective operation of electrical power systems. The ideal candidate will have a solid technical background, an eye for detail, and a willingness to travel frequently for project work.

Requirements

At least 2 years of experience in testing and commissioning electrical power systems and controls.
Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical single-line diagrams, three-line drawings, schematics/wiring diagrams, network diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
Strong troubleshooting skills for electrical equipment and controls during and post-energization.
Knowledge of electrical hazards (shock, arc flash) and a strong commitment to adhering to industry-standard safety practices.
This position will require both technical expertise and the ability to work efficiently in both office and field environments

Nice To Haves

Previous experience working in HV substations preferred.

Responsibilities

Install and maintain equipment: Transformers, circuit breakers, switches, relays, and control systems
Perform inspections and testing: Diagnose faults using specialized tools and test equipment
Repair and troubleshoot: Identify electrical or mechanical issues and fix them efficiently
Read and interpret technical documents: Blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams
Ensure safety compliance: Follow OSHA and company safety procedures when working with high-voltage systems
Operate heavy equipment: Bucket trucks, cranes, and other machinery for installation and repair
Assist in construction projects: Build new substations or upgrade existing ones
