About The Position

LCRA is hiring a substation electrician to join our internal construction team! This role involves operating heavy equipment, rigging and crane operations, welding, installing conduit and terminating control cables. The position requires travel across Central Texas, with travel accommodations provided. You will work alongside and learn from skilled professionals, building critical substation electrical and control infrastructure, while enjoying the outdoors. This is an opportunity for individuals who want to build their skills and grow into future opportunities.

Requirements

  • Two or more years of experience in maintenance and/or construction of electrical power, transmission, distribution, substation and control equipment, and/or other types of electrical equipment, including experience reading blueprints.
  • Class A Texas commercial driver's license

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on substation construction skills: operating heavy equipment, installing conduit/cable, constructing steel structures, crane operations, terminating conductors.
  • Experience with project-based work.
  • General understanding of safe electrical utility operations.

Responsibilities

  • Build electrical substations using construction skills and specialized tools.
  • Read blueprints, consult manuals, parts lists and keep drawings and schematics up-to-date and accurate.
  • Assist other teams as needed to complete project scopes.
  • Be a part of a team that prioritizes safety and quality.
