Substation Construction Inspector (Fargo/Moorhead Area)

Candidates for the Substation Construction Supervisor role will be expected to have a strong background in utility Construction. Particularly related to power transmission and distribution in order to perform the following tasks including, but not limited to: Provide direct oversight of construction activities throughout all phases of the project, ensuring compliance with project specifications, quality requirements, and industry standards. Perform daily site inspections and safety observations, documenting project progress, key milestones, and generating detailed reports. Work collaboratively with project managers, contractors, and engineering personnel to support the successful execution and completion of projects. Responsible for identifying, documenting, and communicating field changes to project designs. Responsible for verifying that construction personnel utilize the correct materials in the appropriate locations in accordance with project requirements. Responsible for reviewing and addressing project discrepancies with the appropriate stakeholders to ensure timely resolution. Responsible for maintaining routine communication with designated client representatives and providing regular project updates. Shall exercise all necessary precautions to safeguard the client's equipment, materials, and customers while serving as a professional representative of the client. Maintain strong communication with onsite personnel and promote compliance with established safety policies and procedures. Utilize Microsoft Excel and other software applications to support project reporting, tracking, and documentation efforts.
Requirements
- Detailed knowledge of utility substation construction practices.
- A strong construction background is required.
- Able to inspect all aspects of substation construction (i.e. ground grid, control wiring, steel, bus, and all electrical equipment installations).
- Responsible for verifying that all work performed by the prime construction contractor complies with our client's construction standards and engineering prints.
- The ability to read plans and specifications: schematic diagrams, electrical diagrams, metering diagrams, and equipment operation and maintenance manuals.
- Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Must have data collection, management, and analysis skills and experience.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office
Nice To Haves
- Degree in a relevant field such as Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Renewable Energy Technology is preferred, or equivalent field experience
- Knowledge of electrical and/or civil related construction methodologies is strongly preferred
- Strong management, coordination, and communication abilities; proven leadership experience; safety-minded with a thorough understanding of construction site protocols.
