About The Position

EXP is seeking a Construction Inspector to support construction oversight activities on the State Route 400 Express Lanes Project. The position assists a Senior Inspector with inspection and testing of soils, concrete, steel, and masonry materials for road and bridge projects. The inspector reads and interprets drawings and specifications, observes general job safety practices, and monitors Work Zone Traffic Control in accordance with contract documents. The position receives general supervision from a Senior Inspector, who reviews work in progress. GDOT construction and specifications experience is desired. Weekend and evening work may be required as dictated by the contract.

Requirements

• Meet one of the stated education and experience pathways: a university degree in civil engineering or a four-year college degree in civil engineering technology; a two-year technical college degree in civil engineering technology and three years of progressive transportation technician experience; a high school diploma and five years of progressive transportation technician experience as an employee or consultant for a State Highway Agency; or an equivalent combination of training and directly related experience.
• Pass GDOT Construction Engineering Inspection Training tests, Group 1: General Provisions, Auxiliary Items, Basic Highway Math, and Basic Highway Plan Reading.
• Pass GDOT Construction Engineering Inspection Training tests, Group 2: Pavements, Bases, Subbases, Minor Drainage Structures, and Construction Erosion Control.
• Hold GDOT WECS certification.
• Hold GDOT Field Concrete Technician Certification.
• Hold GSWCC Level 1a (Erosion Control) certification.
• Hold NECIT Level III Certification or ASCE equivalent.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with GDOT construction and specifications is desired.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
