About The Position

ATTIC stands for "Alternatives to Traditional Incarceration of Citizens." We are a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to developing interventions that enable individuals to avoid unnecessary levels of incarceration, enhance community safety and provide a setting that facilitates treatment and the reduction of recidivism. We operate residential and other correctional programs throughout Wisconsin that provide case management, counseling and treatment groups, vocational training and high-risk client monitoring and supervision. We are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team on a full-time basis. The Substance Abuse Counselor will play a crucial role in providing substance abuse counseling services to adult Correctional Clients, facilitating group sessions, and implementing evidence-based treatment interventions. This position requires a compassionate individual with strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to supporting individuals on their journey to recovery.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Human Services, Criminal Justice, Social Work or related field required.
  • Substance Abuse Counselor (SAC-IT, SAC or CSAC) credentials through the state of WI.
  • 1 year of experience in counseling.
  • 1 year of experience working with correctional/AODA clients.
  • Demonstrated ability working with individuals from diverse backgrounds; culturally competent.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, email, and internet.
  • Ability to maintain the utmost confidentiality of all agency information.
  • Ability to interact with staff, clients, and agents in an effective manner while maintaining professional boundaries.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop treatment plans based on each client's individual needs.
  • Complete and maintain accurate records of progress, services provided, treatment plan, and other required information.
  • Counsel clients in group sessions, using the approved curriculum provided.
  • Conduct orientation intake sessions of individuals referred to the program.
  • Evaluate client participation by monitoring behavior, attitude, and progress.
