About The Position

VitalCore Health Strategies (VCHS), a leader in Correctional Health Care, is seeking a Full-Time Substance Use Disorder Counselor for the Community Corrections Treatment Center in Smyrna, DE. This role offers the opportunity to use your training, skills, and experience in face-to-face interactions with individuals from diverse backgrounds, making a tangible impact on their lives. You will be part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team including Medical, Psychiatry, Ancillary, Security, Legal, community providers, and psychiatric hospitals, working in real-time with real people.

Requirements

• Graduation from a Bachelor's level program or higher.
• Must have a substance use certification (i.e., CADC, CAADC) or must be actively working towards attaining a substance use certification and must obtain the certification within two years of hire.
• Individuals who are not certified must be under the direct supervision of a certified clinical supervisor with written documentation of supervision.
• Flexibility of working days, evenings and weekends.

Nice To Haves

• Employment in a clinician/counselor/social work capacity in a public or private agency or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide crisis stabilization, complete intakes and on-going evaluations, and provide consultation to in-house and community services.
• Participate in monthly behavioral health calls and collaborate with the medical team to determine overall treatment for each individual.
• Perform risk assessment of inmates.
• Coordinate care with the interdisciplinary team, including medical staff, community providers, psychiatric hospitals, and corrections.
• Assist in discharge planning.
• Assist in planning and implementing the goals and objectives of programs and projects.
• Prepare necessary documentation, records, and reports.
• Utilize clinical skills such as prioritizing treatment needs, crisis management, and brief clinical interventions including CBT and Motivational Interviewing.
• Maintain excellent and timely documentation.
• Make independent clinical decisions, utilizing assistance and supervisory intervention as needed.
