About The Position

Valley's Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team is seeking a Substance Use Disorder Counselor (SUDC) to provide recovery-focused treatment and support to individuals living with severe mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders. As part of a multidisciplinary team, the SUDC will deliver individual and group counseling, teach behavior change and coping skills, and assist clients in achieving long-term recovery, stability, and an improved quality of life through community-based services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work
  • SUDC license in state of practice
  • CPR certification (Post hire)
  • Valley de-escalation certification (Post hire)

Responsibilities

  • Manages caseload including care plan and ASAM management
  • Teaches groups and individual sessions utilizing evidence-based practices and behavior modification with the intention of full sobriety
  • Collaborates with a team of multi-disciplinary mental health professionals
  • Mentors clients who are in an intensive residential treatment program for substance abuse and mental health disorders
  • Provides positive role-modeling and teaches social/behavioral skills
  • Tracks and maintains client data
