About The Position

Responsible for ensuring that clients receive the individual range of medical care and other comprehensive services necessary to optimize each client's substance use, mental health, and health outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Social Work with an active Substance Abuse Counseling Certification.
  • If a Social Worker, must have a valid license to practice as a Social Worker.
  • Certification of having taken courses and training on the issue of addiction to drugs, alcohol, and other related services.
  • Bilingual.
  • Writing skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct targeted evaluations of substance abuse for all Project clients.
  • Participate in initial interviews to determine needs and maintain social reports of clients.
  • Conduct emotional, self-esteem, and independent living abilities evaluations for various departments.
  • Create psychoactive histories of clients.
  • Provide individual and group therapies for substance abuse and to improve social and community skills.
  • Develop treatment plans and document services performed on clients.
  • Design plans to guide clients in achieving their goals.
  • Contribute to the development and increase of well-being by involving individuals, groups, communities, and related institutions and services.
  • Participate with the Social Worker in the elaboration and development of the service plan.
  • Conduct visits to penal institutions as required by the Program or Project.
  • Facilitate self-help, family, and couple meetings.
  • Review records and ensure compliance with eligibility documents in coordination with the Coordinator.
  • Oversee support groups, client evaluation, and conduct daily substance abuse service activities.
  • Keep the coordinator informed of situations that occurred during interventions.
  • Assess client needs in conjunction with the team and others.
  • Represent and accompany clients in court and/or in an Arbitration Chamber.
  • Set new goals and objectives for clients to develop a life plan and reintegrate into the community by implementing learned skills.
  • Help clients eliminate harmful behaviors.
  • Maintain notes in the service file regarding interventions with clients.
  • Visit penal institutions according to the nature of the program or project.
  • Generate work and statistical reports.
  • Perform drug tests.
