About The Position

River's Bend is looking for a Substance Abuse Counselor to join our treatment team. You'll counsel adults in residential drug and alcohol treatment, with a focus on drug and alcohol awareness and crisis intervention, and you'll handle intakes, treatment planning, and documentation. This is a hands-on role. You'll take part in clients' daily scheduled activities, help plan recreational and leisure time with the Facility Director, and step in when crisis situations come up.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or higher in a related field (chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, or nursing with a human services specialty) that included a practicum in a health or human service agency.
  • Bachelor's degree in one of those fields, plus 1 year of clinical experience in a health or human service agency.
  • Associate degree in one of those fields, plus 2 years of clinical experience in a health or human service agency.
  • Pennsylvania RN license and a nursing degree, plus 1 year of counseling experience in a health or human service agency.
  • Full certification as an addictions counselor by a recognized statewide certification body or another state's board.

Responsibilities

  • Counsel clients in drug and alcohol awareness and crisis intervention.
  • Receive and conduct intakes and admissions.
  • Provide treatment planning and documentation that meets DDAP regulations and CBH requirements.
  • Document client progress accurately and completely.
  • Supervise and take part in clients' daily scheduled activities.
  • Work with the Facility Director to plan clients' recreational and leisure time.
  • Respond to crisis and emergency situations following River's Bend policies and procedures.
  • Work as part of the treatment team and attend weekly staff meetings.
