Requirements

  • Must meet the minimum qualifications for paralegals as defined by applicable state law.
  • Experience as a Paralegal with a focus on subrogation, insurance defense, or civil litigation preferred.
  • Experience managing high-volume caseloads in a fast-paced legal environment.
  • Familiarity with legal procedures, including pleadings, discovery, motions, and court filings.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple cases and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for drafting legal documents and correspondence.

Responsibilities

  • Efficiently handle a large number of pending subrogation files, prioritizing tasks, tracking deadlines, and ensuring timely progression of each case from initiation to resolution.
  • Collaborate with the attorney to discuss case details, formulate legal strategies, and develop plans for pursuing subrogation claims.
  • Assist in gathering and organizing documents, evidence, and legal research for cases, including preparation for hearings, trials, arbitrations, mediations, and depositions.
  • Open new case files, review initial documentation, and prepare demand letters for payment.
  • Regularly update the attorney on case progress, including the status of demand letters, discovery responses, and filings, ensuring the attorney is informed and aligned with the next steps.
  • Draft and prepare pleadings, discovery responses, motions, and other key legal documents, ensuring they are ready for attorney review and submission.
  • Handle all necessary legal filings, including pleadings, discovery documents, and motions, ensuring compliance with court deadlines and procedural requirements.
  • Attend court hearings, depositions, and other legal proceedings to observe and assist as needed; may represent the company or clients in routine matters under supervision.
  • Participate in training sessions and mentorship programs to develop legal skills and gain exposure to more complex legal work.
