About The Position

This entry-level role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working on cars, motorcycles, or machines, and have a background in automotive technology, diesel technology, industrial maintenance, or similar fields. Even without prior mechanic experience, if you have a knack for taking things apart and putting them back together, this role is for you. Electric Boat is seeking individuals eager to learn and grow within their Outside Machinist Department as they continue to build advanced submarines. The company offers training, including pre-employment training in collaboration with the State of Connecticut, to teach the fundamentals of the trade. Hired employees will be titled "Outside Machinist".

Requirements

High School Diploma, GED, or be a current High School Senior.
2+ years of relevant technical experience OR 0-5 years of relevant experience.
Must be available for all shifts.
Must be a US Citizen.
Successful completion of the Eastern CT Workforce Investment Board (EWIB) Manufacturing Pipeline Initiative training program, if applicable (will be determined after interview).

Nice To Haves

Graduates from technical programs for mechanical trades.

Responsibilities

Perform on-hull machining.
Install components such as pumps, valves, weapons systems, communications systems, shafting and propulsion systems.
Support testing of mechanical components.
Utilize skills in blueprint reading, precision measuring, fastening threaded fasteners, and component layout.
Comply with safety and quality standards.
Conduct work primarily shipboard, internal and external to submarine hulls.
Perform off-site and radiological work as required.
