About The Position

Craig Technologies has an opening for a Biomedical Engineer at the NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. In this role, you will play a critical role in advancing NASA’s Human Research Program (HRP) by recruiting and preparing crewmembers for cutting-edge spaceflight analog missions. These missions simulate the challenges of space exploration and generate vital data to shape the future of human spaceflight. In this position, you will lead the end-to-end recruitment process, including identifying and engaging qualified candidates, evaluating their suitability, and guiding them through each stage of selection. You’ll coordinate closely with medical and psychological teams to schedule testing, arrange candidate travel, and manage informed consent briefings for mission participants. Your work will involve seamless collaboration with Mission Scientists, analog mission teams, and key stakeholders to ensure smooth operations and timely communication. Attention to detail and data confidentiality are paramount in this role, as you will handle sensitive information throughout the recruitment process. Your efforts will directly contribute to groundbreaking research that supports astronaut health and performance on future missions to the Moon, Mars, and beyond. This role is part of the Research Operations and Integration (ROI) element of the Human Research Program (HRP).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science or a closely related field, with at least 1-3 year of relevant experience in research coordination, recruitment, or similar roles.
  • Exceptional communication skills—both written and verbal—with the ability to convey complex information clearly and professionally.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to overcoming challenges.
  • Outstanding multitasking capability, thriving in fast-paced environments while managing multiple priorities.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and compliance in all aspects of recruitment and data handling.

  • Hands-on experience with protected data, including organizing, analyzing, and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Formal training in data privacy and best practices for handling sensitive information.

Responsibilities

  • Engaging with candidates interested in NASA analog studies, conducting initial suitability assessments, and coordinating screening responses with the Complement Scientist.
  • Managing the application pipeline by processing candidate submissions and providing qualified CVs to key stakeholders for review and approval.
  • Coordinating critical screening activities , including background checks, remote labs and physicals, dental appointments, psychological evaluations, informed consent briefings, and security badging.
  • Serving as the primary liaison between candidates, analog teams, and clinic operations to ensure seamless scheduling and communication.
  • Developing and distributing Phase 2 study-specific test schedules and keeping stakeholders informed.
  • Tracking recruitment metrics and delivering weekly reports to monitor progress and optimize processes.
  • Staying ahead of evolving study requirements for each mission complement and pre-screening candidates accordingly.
