About The Position

We are seeking a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) in New Orleans, LA. This role provides advanced technical and analytical expertise across program initiatives, supporting system analysis, data management, application development, and related operational activities aligned to BOEM’s mission.

Requirements

  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience providing technical support, analysis, or subject matter expertise in support of systems, applications, or program operations.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting system analysis, design, integration, or implementation activities within a technical or business environment.
  • Experience contributing to technical documentation, including development of reports, specifications, or other supporting materials.
  • Ability to analyze technical and business requirements and support the development of recommendations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of the Interior (DOI) Public Trust.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting Federal agencies, particularly within the Department of the Interior or BOEM.
  • Experience working with data management systems, application development environments, or geospatial tools.
  • Experience developing technical documentation such as user manuals, training guides, or system specifications.
  • Experience supporting system testing, integration, or deployment activities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to support complex technical assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Provides expert technical guidance and support across assigned projects, systems, and functional areas to ensure alignment with program objectives and technical requirements.
  • Supports system analysis, design, integration, and implementation activities, contributing to the successful delivery of technical solutions and enhancements.
  • Participates in planning, analysis, testing, and integration efforts for systems development and operational support activities.
  • Develops and contributes to technical documentation, including user guides, training materials, specifications, and other program documentation.
  • Analyzes technical and business requirements and provides recommendations to support effective decision-making and solution development.
  • Supports coordination across technical teams, stakeholders, and program offices to ensure consistent execution and alignment.
  • Assists with evaluation of existing systems, processes, and workflows to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Contributes to presentations, briefings, and documentation to communicate technical approaches, findings, and recommendations.
  • Applies established tools, methodologies, and processes to support technical assignments and ensure compliance with organizational standards.
