About The Position

Redhorse transforms the way government uses data and technology. To support this mission, we are seeking a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Software Systems Engineering. As a recognized expert within the company, you will design, research, and develop highly advanced applications that create new product and business opportunities. This is a visionary role where your technical mastery in scientific analysis and mathematical modeling will directly contribute to business capture efforts and high-level capability briefings. You will bridge the gap between complex engineering research and the strategic goals of our government clients, ensuring Redhorse remains at the forefront of digital transformation.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) with 12+ years of experience OR a Master’s degree with 10+ years of experience.
  • Proven expertise as a recognized authority in software systems engineering and research.
  • Demonstrated experience leading business capture efforts and delivering technical capability briefings.
  • Extensive background in scientific analysis and mathematical modeling for software system design.
  • Deep technical mastery of low-level software components including compilers, assemblers, and operating systems.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a recognized expert within the company to design and develop highly advanced applications that drive new business opportunities.
  • Lead efforts to capture new business through technical work, research, and high-level capability briefings for senior government stakeholders.
  • Conduct advanced research in the design, development, testing, and utilization of electronic data processing software.
  • Design and document applications software and systems that contain complex logical and mathematical solutions.
  • Lead multidisciplinary research initiatives, collaborating with equipment designers and hardware engineers on the utilization of data processing systems.
  • Determine computer user needs and analyze system capabilities to resolve critical problems regarding program intent and programming controls.
  • Design and develop low-level system software, including compilers, assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems.
  • Prepare expert-level operating instructions and ensure all software standards are developed and enforced across projects.
  • Analyze user needs and requirements to determine design feasibility within strict time and cost constraints.
  • Confer with systems analysts and engineers to manage high-level project limitations, performance requirements, and interfaces.
  • Use scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict outcomes and measure the consequences of complex system designs.
  • Coordinate large-scale software system installations and monitor equipment to ensure all specifications and performance metrics are met.
