About The Position

The Sub System Technical Lead (SSTL) leads technical program management across one or more vehicle lines and serves as the primary liaison between the design team and cross-functional groups, including vehicle program management, engineering, and manufacturing. The role oversees technical execution from development through end-of-life, ensuring systems meet functional and performance requirements and program targets for cost, weight, investment, timing, and quality. The SSTL leads engineering and quality issue resolution, supports bulletin responses and launch activities, maintains vehicle development plans, releases supplier specifications, manages requirement changes through Design Change Requests (DCRs), and leads post-launch warranty performance initiatives. The role also champions cost-saving and value optimization activities. Travel and onsite support at manufacturing plants are required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • At least 8 years of experience in automotive engineering, product development, or program management.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex technical programs from concept through launch.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle systems, manufacturing processes, and engineering development cycles.
  • Experience with issue resolution, change management, and supplier coordination.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools such as CATIA or NX, PLM systems such as Teamcenter, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to travel and support onsite launch activities at manufacturing plants.

  • Experience with vehicle launch, warranty analysis, and post-launch quality improvement.
  • Familiarity with Design for Six Sigma (DFSS), APQP, FMEA, and other quality tools.
  • Demonstrated success in value optimization and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Experience managing supplier relationships and leading sourcing and tooling activities.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance standards in automotive engineering.
  • Ability to interpret and manage technical specifications and design change requests.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure systems meet functional and performance requirements and targets for cost, weight, investment, timing, and quality.
  • Lead resolution of engineering and quality issues throughout program phases.
  • Provide hands-on support for bulletin responses, including concept development, packaging studies, cost and weight analysis, prototype procurement, supplier coordination, sourcing, tooling, validation, and launch.
  • Act as an active member of the launch team and support plant development and onsite activities.
  • Define, communicate, and maintain the vehicle development plan to ensure feature availability and consistent vehicle behavior throughout the program lifecycle.
  • Release specifications to suppliers and manage requirement changes through Design Change Requests (DCRs), aligning with product planning, supplier feedback, and issue resolution.
