About The Position

Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students. Adapt teaching methods and instructional material to meet students’ varying needs and interests. Provide ABA therapy as directed by a BCBA. Provide direct instruction in academic subjects as well as social, emotional, and life skills. Utilize a variety of sensory-friendly teaching tools and techniques. Create a structured and predictable classroom environment. Collaborate with special education staff, speech therapists, other professionals, and BCBA Consultants. Maintain accurate and timely records of students’ progress and behavior. Participate in ongoing professional development related to autism and special education. Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers to provide support and resources. Experience with de-escalation strategies and willingness to be Safety Care Trained. Ability to provide support and guidance to paraeducators to work towards students’ IEP goals and objectives.

Requirements

  • Massachusetts Certification in Elementary Education in Severe Special Needs
  • Experience working with children on the autism spectrum
  • Familiarity with various autism-specific teaching strategies and interventions
  • Strong understanding of sensory processing issues and accommodations
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience with assistive technology and communication devices
  • Knowledge of behavior management techniques
  • Ability to create and maintain a structured learning environment
  • Ability to modify curriculum to meet individual student needs
  • Capacity to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Experience with de-escalation strategies
  • Willingness to be Safety Care Trained
