About The Position
The Study Abroad Advisor - International Center role involves providing comprehensive advising for study abroad programs, including Cal Poly Global and partner programs. The position supports students throughout their application, pre-departure, and re-entry phases. Additionally, the role involves assisting with pre-departure and program-specific orientations, providing ongoing mentoring to study abroad peer advisors, and supporting International Center events.
Requirements
- Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job related field.
- Two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field.
Nice To Haves
- A master’s degree in a job related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience.
- Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the required knowledge and abilities may be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis.
Responsibilities
- Advising for study abroad programs including Cal Poly Global programs and partner programs
- Supporting pre-departure and program-specific orientations with materials and content
- Assisting students through the application, pre-departure, and re-entry phases of study abroad
- Providing support and ongoing mentoring to study abroad peer advisors
- Supporting International Center events
