About The Position

The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art is seeking enthusiastic, dependable, and organized Studio Program Assistants to support artmaking workshops and classes offered through our Ford Learning Center. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy working with children and adults in creative learning environments while contributing to one of the nation's premier art museums.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Dependable with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • A positive attitude and commitment to providing exceptional service.
  • Willingness to work with diverse audiences in a creative learning environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with children, youth, or diverse public audiences.
  • Experience in educational, museum, arts, recreation, or community-based programs.
  • Interest in art, creativity, or museum education.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing studios and classrooms before and after workshops and classes.
  • Maintaining clean, organized classrooms, supply rooms, and shared workspaces.
  • Assisting Teaching Artists during programs by providing encouragement and support to participants.
  • Helping ensure a welcoming, inclusive, and safe environment for learners of all ages and abilities.
  • Supporting off-site artmaking programs with community partners throughout the Kansas City area.
  • Managing your work schedule and communications using Microsoft Teams and Outlook.
  • Collaborating with museum colleagues to deliver exceptional educational experiences.
  • Performing other duties that support the Learning & Engagement Division and the Museum's mission.
