About The Position

Join One River School of Art + Design to teach and mentor motivated adult students, work alongside practicing artists in a creative community, and grow with a team that invests in your development—from day one. This role involves teaching art and/or digital design classes, ensuring student success, implementing the One River Methodology Curriculum, running a best-in-class studio, and directing students to produce high-quality work for exhibitions.

Requirements

BA/BS in Visual Art, Art Education or Design (Master’s a plus) or equivalent professional experience.
5+ years experience teaching visual arts for adults and advanced teens studio classes.
Track record of high-quality instruction, classroom management, and student progress.
Clear communicator, organized, and energized by a busy studio environment.
Passion for art history, contemporary art and a “students-first” mindset.
Availability on Saturdays and Sundays and weekday evenings.

Nice To Haves

Digital art skills (Adobe Suite and Procreate knowledge) are a plus.

Responsibilities

Teach Art and / or Digital Design Classes using a wide variety of media.
Ensure student success in the studio and lab by actively engaging with students and teachers to observe, document and communicate their progress and opportunities for growth.
Implement the One River Method through each class effectively.
Contribute to lesson plan development.
Run a best-in-class studio: Clean and organize studio spaces and student artwork and / or oversee digital lab maintenance.
Direct students to produce high quality work for their exhibitions in January and June.
Keep track of student progress to ensure exhibition work is completed on time for each show.
