About The Position

Students Demand Action, a program of Everytown for Gun Safety, is hiring Campus Organizers in Arizona, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. This role is for passionate, hard-working individuals committed to electing Gun Sense Candidates in key battleground districts. The position requires working in-person on college campuses and organizers will report to a Students Demand Action Organizing Manager. This is a temporary, 20 hours/week role from July 20 to November 14. Applicants must be willing to travel to Washington, DC from July 20 to 23 for in-person orientation and training. Positions will be filled on a rolling basis.

Requirements

  • Ability to work independently and as a cohesive team member in a metrics-driven environment.
  • Ability to track and report data accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends.
  • Commitment to developing a positive work environment that fosters an inclusive environment open to individuals of all backgrounds.
  • Must have access to a vehicle and a valid driver’s license to travel throughout a given area or state.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, manage and execute a direct voter contact program on campuses, including phone banking, text banking, canvassing/Dorm Storms, and campus organizing to elect Gun Sense Candidates.
  • Maintain a volunteer community that engages in voter contact work.
  • Create a positive volunteer experience that engages new people in the volunteer process, keep people engaged throughout the cycle, and maintain strong relationships to build our movement for the long-term.
  • Lead workshops to set volunteers up for success.
  • Host Phone Banks on campus.
  • High traffic canvassing, and tabling.
  • Attend regular check-ins with the Students Demand Action team at Everytown.
  • Create and post one video per week promoting campus engagement in electing Gun Sense Candidates.
  • Organize a variety of events on campus in person.
