This position supports an ongoing environmental health research grant as part of the Lower Columbia Estuary Partnership Ecosystem Monitoring Program. The role involves collecting and analyzing water quality and biological samples to track habitat conditions of intertidal marshes in the Lower Columbia River. The successful applicant will assist with preparation for field work, sample collection and preservation during field work, and sample processing in the laboratory. Additional duties include deployment and maintenance of water quality sensors, laboratory sample processing and analysis, and data entry, data management, and data analysis. The work will take place in an environmental chemistry laboratory at OHSU year-round, and will involve assisting with field sampling in marshes of the Lower Columbia River from February to October. Field work may require full days (8 hours) up to 5 days per month during the field season. Laboratory work includes sample preparation, sample processing, equipment maintenance, and data entry. Training will be provided for benchtop chemistry and microscopy.
