About The Position

In a student employee capacity, this role assists the Construction Manager and Director of Construction in building affordable single-family homes. The position involves preparing job sites for volunteers, supervising Habitat homeowners and other volunteers in construction tasks, delivering materials, and performing other assigned duties while ensuring a clean and safe work environment. The role requires active participation in the physical building process, from framing to completing punch-out items. Key interpersonal skills include attentiveness, empathy, collaboration, and the ability to relate well with diverse groups such as staff, partnering families, volunteers, and various community sectors.

Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Must be physically able to stand and walk for the majority of the day.
  • Must be able to walk and climb on uneven surfaces.
  • Must be able to climb ladders & stairs.
  • Must be able to bend, lift, grasp, push and pull materials to move them in and out of vehicles and around construction sites.
  • Must be able to operate power tools.
  • Must be attentive, empathetic, collaborative, and have harmonious interpersonal skills.
  • Must have the ability to relate well with all constituents, including staff, partnering families, volunteers, business, religious and political communities.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must have a Driver's License.
  • Must be able to work at least 2-3 hours blocks of time.
  • MUST BE ELIGIBLE FOR FEDERAL WORK STUDY.

Nice To Haves

  • Availability to work all day on Saturdays is a plus.
