About The Position

The Blinn College District is searching for a Student Worker - Library, Brenham campus at our Brenham Campus. This role involves performing daily maintenance and operating functions in an academic library.

Requirements

Must be eligible for Work study funding through Financial Aid and FAFSA.
Must be able to work one evening per week until 9:30 pm (Sun-Thurs).
Must be able to work one Saturday shift (11:30 am-4 pm) per month.
Be able to shelve books on the highest bookshelves.
Be able to stand on a stool, pick up and carry weights up to 20 pounds.
For interview: Take a filing test (10-20 minutes).
For interview: Bring a copy of your class schedule for the semester you want to work.
For interview: Provide two people for library staff to contact as references (former or current employers or teachers, not family or friends).

Nice To Haves

Library experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Shelve books and perform other assigned duties.
Clean tables and computers according to current protocol.
Read shelves to ensure books are in correct Dewey Decimal order and arranged neatly.
Perform floor duty, including shelving or relocating library material.
Take book trucks to the to-be-shelved areas.
Take hourly counts of library patrons.
Assist students with machines and finding material.
Search lists of items to fill material requests.
Shift ranges of books when instructed.
Assist with inventory of library material.
Perform desk duty, including checking in and out of materials.
Deliver and pick up items around campus as necessary.
Make copies and prepare customized packets when assigned.
Perform other duties as assigned.
