About The Position

Florida Polytechnic University, a premier STEM institution, is seeking a Student Worker for Digital Accessibility within the Office of the ADA Coordinator. This role is crucial for ensuring all digital and web platforms are accessible to individuals with disabilities and comply with federal and state accessibility laws and standards, including ADA, Section 504, Section 508, and WCAG. The student worker will support staff in converting documents to meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards, evaluate digital content for accessibility, provide guidance, and assist with training and outreach efforts to improve the usability of digital resources across campus.

Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be in good academic standing.
  • Must be currently enrolled or attending classes at Florida Polytechnic University.
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of at least a 2.25 and have successfully completed 9 credits or more in the most recent fall or spring semester with a GPA of 2.0 or better.
  • Must be proficient with programming tools commonly used in data science projects.
  • Knowledge of ADA Title II requirements and digital accessibility standards.
  • Experience evaluating digital content and platforms for accessibility
  • Strong teaching and technical skills.
  • This position requires a criminal background check.
  • This position is subject to federal and state privacy regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Review of digital media in conjunction with various offices, IT, Strategic Communication, Athletics, Academic Affairs, etc.
  • Convert and format documents to be compliance with WCAG 2.1 AA
  • Perform Section 508 web-based evaluation and provide recommended remediation
  • Assist in development of online training modules and in-person training related to accessibility and technology
  • Assist in development of resources in support of accessibility, including educational resources, guides, and tutorials.
  • Recommend and assist with remediation of inaccessible digital content.
  • May perform other duties as assigned which are relevant to the position.
