About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor - Design and Field Engineering, performs general traffic counting and other various traffic engineering activities.

Requirements

  • Must be a student during the preceding academic year and be returning to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year.
  • Good communication and organizational skills
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision
  • Excellent data entry and accuracy skills
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Ontario Class G licence, or equivalent
  • Use of personal vehicle may be required.
  • Must be required to provide a successful driver’s abstract
  • If you are offered a position as a summer student, you will be required to show proof of completing a full-time/part-time academic year (September to April) in 2024/2025 at a school, college, university or other educational institution.
  • You may also be required to show proof of validity of your driver’s licence, professional licences, and/or education when such certification constitutes a job requirement or corporate program requirement.

Nice To Haves

  • Civil Engineering background
  • Computer literacy in MS Word and Excel

Responsibilities

  • Perform traffic counts using automated systems and analyze the data for better road and infrastructure planning.
  • Assists with various traffic engineering activities such as programming speed signs and installing pedestrian counters.
  • Assists with traffic data collection, review, analysis and recommendation of solutions for identified traffic problems within the city.
  • Other engineering duties as designed.
