About The Position

Oregon State University’s Academic Technologies Technical Services team is seeking student assistants who want to learn how technical systems come together, and help build, maintain, and troubleshoot them. Working alongside professional staff, you’ll assist with audio/visual system integration in classrooms and collaboration spaces, computer fleet imaging and support in learning spaces and laboratories, and broadcast systems and technical operations for game-day productions and special events. You’ll gain experience with both the equipment people use and the behind-the-scenes tools and processes that keep these environments running. We’re looking for students who ask questions, take initiative, and want to understand not just how to operate technology, but how its parts work together. If you enjoy hands-on problem-solving, exploring new technologies, and learning with a team, this role offers an opportunity to develop practical skills across AV, computing, and live production while supporting teaching, learning, and collaboration across campus.

Academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study.
Meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment.
Meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard (High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program; Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term; Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term; Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term; Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term).
Must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified.
Must self-report convictions.

Responsibilities

Assist with the installation, integration, and testing of audio/visual and broadcast/production systems in classrooms, conference rooms, laboratories, and production spaces.
Assist with imaging, configuration, and testing of fleet computers in learning spaces and laboratories under the direction of Technical Services IT Consultants.
Support routine back-end administration and computer fleet management processes, following established procedures and professional staff direction.
Assist with maintenance, troubleshooting, and service of campus technology systems, documenting issues and work performed in the IT ticketing system.
Assist with technical setup, event engineering support, operations, and teardown for game-day broadcasts and special events.
Support live sports broadcast production, including graphics, statistical verification, scoreboard operation, and coordination with production personnel.
Provide client technical support and basic system instruction, assist with service/testing coordination, and maintain safe, organized work areas.
