About The Position

The Student Success Coordinator will work with students (undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral) within the School of Aeronautics at Liberty University (both online and residential) to maximize student success, assess and measure outcomes, work toward continuous improvement within the programs, and collect/manage data. The overall goal of this position is to achieve a higher graduation rate of students from the School of Aeronautics and to ensure the student’s academic, professional, and personal development. This position will assist the Associate Director of Student Success for the School of Aeronautics with the following functions:

Requirements

  • Understanding of how to research and use knowledge in strategic planning for student support services.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Organization, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing to convey clear, well-articulated information.
  • Ability to understand, speak, and write English to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner.
  • Possess public communication skills that allow the professional representation of Liberty University to a variety of business, government, and community customers and associates.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Computer and scheduling skills.
  • Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.
  • Required to travel to local and campus locations.
  • May be required to sit to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard.
  • Regularly required to hear and speak to communicate effectively orally.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the campus.
  • Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel, or stoop to conduct business.
  • Regularly lift 10 or fewer pounds.
  • Proof of a valid Virginia driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, and liability insurance is required.

Nice To Haves

  • A bachelor’s degree in higher education administration with knowledge of student development and learning theory.
  • Understanding of how to use CRM, Course Registration Tool, Qualtrics, Excel, Outlook, Microsoft Teams, Kaltura, ATLAS, Tableau, and ARGOS.
  • Experience with and basic knowledge of FTAs, FAA, SACs, and VA/Military Affairs to better assist the students.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor department email inboxes.
  • Speak with current and future students on the phone/returning voicemails.
  • Provide up-to-date scholarship and partnership information to current students.
  • Hire, train, and assess the performance of student workers in the School of Aeronautics.
  • Manage the School of Aeronautics ambassador training program.
  • Facilitate the School of Aeronautics recruiting and outreach events.
  • Assist in plans to maximize success for all the School of Aeronautic students.
  • Provide high-quality academic support to maximize student success.
  • Assist with sending surveys to collect data from current and past students.
  • Assist with the engagement of alumni from the School of Aeronautics.
  • Attend department Curriculum Meetings and Daily Check-Ins.
  • Maintain the updates for the training guides for the Online and Residential Enrollment/Advising Departments.
  • Collaborates with the Associate Director regarding students of concern.
  • Collaborates with Associate Director regarding undergraduate and graduate course demand, scheduling, and enrollment management.
  • Encouraged to attend events such as All Aviators Meetings, CFAW, Welcome Week, Experience LU, CASAS Academic Success Workshops, and Scholarship Search 101 events.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Associate Director of Student Success.
