About The Position

The Freeman College of Management at Bucknell University is seeking a Student Success Coach. The Student Success Coach serves as a central resource within the Freeman College of Management, providing proactive, holistic, and student-centered support to promote academic success, persistence, retention, and overall student well-being. This highly relational role maintains an active caseload of students and provides individualized coaching, case management, intervention support, and academic navigation assistance for students experiencing academic, personal, social, or transitional challenges. The position partners closely with Academic Associate Deans, faculty advisors, Athletics, Student Affairs, and other campus partners to coordinate support strategies, connect students and families with appropriate campus resources, and help students successfully navigate the academic and personal demands of college life. The Student Success Coach also supports students in understanding curriculum requirements, academic policies and procedures, major exploration, and degree progression while reinforcing holistic advising efforts across the Freeman College. Through proactive outreach, monitoring of student success indicators, and responsive communication with students, families, faculty, and staff, this role plays a critical part in advancing student engagement, persistence, retention, and timely graduation. This position requires strong interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, sound judgment, and the ability to independently manage complex and sensitive student situations in a fast-paced, student-facing environment. Reporting to the Academic Associate Dean at the Freeman College of Management, this position is a full-time, 12 month, benefits-eligible, exempt staff position. Work setting is on campus, in person.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Two (2) years of relevant experience

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors’s degree in Education, Psychology or related field
  • Four (4) years of relevant experience; in academic advising, counseling or related field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a regular caseload of students and provides individualized support for academically, personally, or socially at-risk students through proactive outreach, accountability meetings, case management, and referral to appropriate campus resources.
  • Maintains appropriate documentation and case notes regarding student interactions and interventions.
  • Provides guidance related to curriculum requirements, university policies and procedures, transfer credit, major exploration, and related academic processes, and supports academic planning and course scheduling in collaboration with the Faculty advisor.
  • Supports students in navigating complex academic decisions and reinforces guidance provided through faculty advising.
  • Monitors academic progress reports, alerts, and related student success indicators to identify students in need of support.
  • Collaborates with faculty, advisors, and campus partners to coordinate outreach efforts, facilitate intervention strategies, and promote student retention, persistence, and academic success.
  • Supports the successful onboarding and transition of incoming first-year students, transfer students, and students returning from leave.
  • Assists students and families in understanding academic expectations, registration processes, and available support resources while helping facilitate a successful transition into the Freeman College community.
  • Maintains a strong working knowledge of Freeman College curriculum requirements, academic policies, and institutional procedures.
  • Assists with monitoring student progress toward degree completion and serves as a resource for accurate interpretation and communication of academic policies and requirements.
  • Collaborates with faculty, staff, administrators, and campus partners to support student success initiatives and provide coordinated student support.
  • Communicates regularly with students, families, faculty advisors, Athletics, Student Affairs, and academic support offices to facilitate appropriate student referrals and support services.
  • Participates in orientation, advising, recruitment, retention, and student engagement initiatives and events.
  • Assists with assessment activities and performs other related duties as assigned in support of the Freeman College student experience.
