About The Position

Project STEP is seeking a work-study student to support our social media efforts. This role is ideal for a university, college, or conservatory student with an interest in or knowledge of music and the arts. The student will attend BSO (Boston Symphony Orchestra) on Saturdays for approximately 2 hours to interview students and staff, take photographs and video, capture behind-the-scenes content, gather material for upcoming posts, and offer ideas for engaging content. Additionally, the student will spend approximately 5 hours per week, either independently or at Project STEP during designated office hours, developing and scheduling social media content. The remaining hours will be dedicated to another communications or development project aligned with the student’s skills and interests, along with a weekly check-in with their Project STEP supervisor. The anticipated commitment is approximately 8–10 hours per week. Reliability, punctuality, and consistent attendance are essential due to the ongoing weekly responsibility and coordination with multiple staff members. The student must be able to commit to in-person Saturday hours and communicate proactively about any absences or scheduling conflicts. We are looking for a creative, self-starting individual who is excited to take ownership of a social media calendar with guidance and support from three Project STEP staff members. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working independently, managing deadlines, following through on assignments, and contributing their own ideas. Deadline adherence, punctuality, responsiveness, and consistent communication are important requirements of this position.
