About The Position

The Student Services and Testing Coordinator is responsible for coordinating a comprehensive range of student support services, including 504 plan implementation, administration of state-mandated and college entrance assessments, and participation in ARD (Admission, Review, and Dismissal) meetings. This position collaborates closely with the high school counseling team to ensure that all students receive appropriate academic and administrative support in alignment with state and federal requirements.

Requirements

  • Valid Texas teacher certification (or equivalent state certification).
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of classroom teaching experience preferred.
  • Prior experience as a campus testing coordinator or 504 coordinator is highly desirable.
  • Experience working with ARD committees and special education processes preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of Section 504 regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with Texas state assessment programs (STAAR, TELPAS, EOC) and College Board exam administration.
  • Understanding of special education processes, IEPs, and the ARD process.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive student information with discretion.
  • Proficiency with student information systems and testing platforms.
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to build effective relationships with students, parents, and staff.

Nice To Haves

  • Valid Texas school counselor certification (or actively working toward certification).
  • Valid Texas special education certification.
  • Master's degree in counseling, education, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the campus 504 Coordinator, ensuring compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
  • Identify students who may qualify for 504 accommodations and coordinate referral, evaluation, and eligibility determination processes.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor 504 accommodation plans in collaboration with teachers, parents, and administrators.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential 504 records and documentation.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff regarding 504 responsibilities and student accommodations.
  • Serve as a liaison between parents, teachers, and administrators regarding 504 matters.
  • Serve as the campus Testing Coordinator for all state-mandated assessments, including STAAR and other TEA-administered exams.
  • Coordinate administration of college entrance exams, including SAT, ACT, PSAT, and AP exams, including SAT School Day and related programs.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all testing security protocols, procedures, and timelines established by TEA and College Board.
  • Train and supervise testing personnel, including test administrators and monitors.
  • Coordinate testing accommodations for students with IEPs, 504 plans, and ELL designations.
  • Manage testing materials, including ordering, inventory, distribution, and secure return of all assessment materials.
  • Communicate testing schedules, requirements, and results to students, parents, faculty, and administration.
  • Maintain documentation and submit required reports to the district and state in a timely manner.
  • Attend ARD committee meetings as a campus representative to support students with disabilities.
  • Collaborate with special education staff to ensure testing accommodations and modifications align with student IEPs.
  • Assist the high school counselor with student academic planning, scheduling, and course registration as needed.
  • Support student intervention efforts, including identification of at-risk students and coordination of appropriate resources.
  • Participate in campus student support team meetings and contribute to data-driven decision making.
  • Assist with college and career readiness activities, including FAFSA nights, college fairs, and scholarship guidance.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student records in compliance with FERPA.
  • Stay current with changes in federal/state laws, TEA guidelines, and best practices related to 504, testing, and student services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or district administration.
