This position is responsible for performing a variety of technical duties in a specialized area of Student Services such as registration, record maintenance, EOPS, adult education, disabled student services, student placement, and counseling services. The role involves assisting students, instructors, and the public by providing technical information and assistance regarding assigned specialized student services, explaining guidelines and procedures, and resolving complex problems related to applications, forms, and records. The position also processes various documents, verifies accuracy and compliance, updates records, and provides information to other institutions. Additionally, it facilitates promotion and awareness of specialized student services, coordinates informational materials for orientations and workshops, and maintains appointment calendars. The technician monitors student progress, assists students based on program needs, organizes student activities, and maintains records and reports. Data entry, clerical duties, and answering phones are also part of the responsibilities. The role involves compiling data for reports, reconciling information, and preparing basic statistical reports. Training and work direction may be provided to others. Maintaining current knowledge of legal requirements, technological advancements, and student services techniques is crucial. The position requires learning and applying emerging technologies and participating in District/College efforts to increase diversity and address student achievement gaps, contributing to a welcoming and inclusive environment.
