About The Position

Cornell University is seeking a Student Services Assistant to join the School of Continuing Education (SCE), where you will play an important role in creating a welcoming and supportive experience for a diverse community of students, faculty, staff, and visitors. As a key member of SCE’s high-functioning registrar and administrative teams, you will serve as a primary point of contact for questions related to enrollment, registration, courses, faculty support, and academic policies and procedures. You will have the opportunity to listen, respond with care, help solve problems, and connect students with the resources and support they need to be successful. This is a full-time (39 hours/week) endowed position based in Ithaca, NY. This position follows a hybrid work arrangement to be mutually agreed upon at the time of hire. The hybrid work arrangement is subject to change at any time. Typical work hours are 8:00am-4:30pm Monday through Friday. Requirements

  • A High School Diploma and two to four years of relevant experience or equivalent combination.
  • Demonstrated excellence in the areas of customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive data with discretion are essential.
  • Comfortability working in teams as well as independently in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite is required.
  • Experience modeling values that support inclusion, belonging, and wellbeing.
  • The ability to cultivate and develop inclusive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.

Nice To Haves

  • Cornell experience is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of PeopleSoft Student, Salesforce, Slate, Bookings, Canvas, Qualtrics, or equivalent.
  • Practical understanding of FERPA regulations and course and class structure.
  • Adaptability, reliability, strong organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a welcoming and engaging first point of contact for students, faculty, staff, and visitors, providing responsive and thoughtful customer service.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding academic policies and procedures, enrollment, registration, classes, courses, and faculty support.
  • Support registration and enrollment operations across Fall, Spring, Summer, and Winter Sessions.
  • Schedule student appointments and maintain accurate, detailed, and organized student and student-related records.
  • Identify students who may need additional support and assist with appropriate follow-up and resources.
  • Assist with data collection, analysis, and reporting to support SCE’s academic programs and operations.
  • Provide backup front-line support across SCE programs as needed.
  • Adapt to evolving responsibilities and organizational needs as SCE continues to grow and contribute to Cornell’s educational mission.
