Position Overview: San Francisco Bay University (SFBU) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented student to support the Office of Institutional Research on a part-time basis. This role offers a hands-on opportunity to gain exposure to institutional research and data preparation within a university setting. The student assistant will work closely with Institutional Research staff on projects related to surveys, data preparation, data collection, and reporting that support planning and continuous improvement efforts across the university. This position is well suited for a student interested in higher education, data, research, and analytics. This is a non-exempt, part-time, onsite position for Spring 2026 (10 hours per week, up to a maximum of 50 total hours).

Requirements

  • Able to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Curious and eager to learn, with a positive attitude
  • Strong attention to detail and dependability
  • Communicates promptly and professionally via email, Google Chat (or Slack)
  • Willingness to try new things
  • Basic familiarity with Google Docs, Sheets, Slides and Canva
  • Comfortable asking for support when needed
  • Must be a current SFBU student
  • Must have some flexibility in scheduling (e.g., we will ask you to visit certain classes during the week to support survey administration)
  • Able to work up to 10 hours per week (hours vary each week)

Responsibilities

  • Help create descriptive tables in excel (from survey results)
  • Support data collection (e.g., visit classrooms to administer surveys) & data entry tasks
  • Help prepare visual aids (e.g., charts, tables, slides) for reports or presentations
