About The Position

Desert Sands Charter School is seeking a passionate Student Relations Technician to join their team. This role is crucial in supporting students' growth and development by managing student records, ensuring compliance with educational mandates, and providing excellent customer service to students and parents. The position operates on a full-time basis, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education required.
  • 2 years of work experience in a fast-paced, clerical support position in a professional business setting.
  • Good attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy of work.
  • Good record-keeping techniques that demonstrate desirable planning and organizational skills.
  • Prepare general, statistical, and special reports.
  • Proficient or Intermediate skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to travel in performance of job duties is required.
  • Excellent customer service skills including the ability to greet customers in a friendly manner and provide responsive, timely, and accurate follow-up to questions and inquiries.
  • Multi-tasking skills; ability to react and respond to changing circumstances and procedures.
  • Respond to requests and inquiries from students, visitors, employees, and supervisors.
  • Able to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple requests or interruptions while still completing projects or work assignments in a timely manner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain files related to student records management.
  • Perform data input, reconciliation, and handle public contact.
  • Communicate with students and/or parents regarding student information, progress, or concerns.
  • Manage complex and specialized activities related to student records and compliance issues (ADA, State educational mandates).
  • Schedule orientation for incoming students.
  • Comply with protocols for expulsion, ELL, special education, re-enrollment, and reinstatement.
  • Ensure all required student enrollment paperwork is complete and accurate.
  • Accurately input student information into SIS (immunizations, enrollment dates, school track, supervising teacher).
  • Issue and track student work permits.
  • Provide quality customer service.
  • Answer and appropriately handle all incoming telephone calls.
  • File documents in student folders.
  • Track and record ADA information.
  • Record work samples for accuracy.
  • Audit student work samples and all documents requiring mandatory compliance (Master Agreement, WSR, DLL, Synopsis, Report Cards, etc.).
  • Check report cards for completeness and accuracy before submission to the registrar.
  • File student homework.
  • Conduct orientations for new students.
  • Assist teachers with compliance and PLS problem-solving.
  • Create and maintain compliance and ADA checklists.
  • Verify and confirm ADA in the SIS system with form and tracking number.
  • Submit compliance error reports to management.
  • Adhere to attendance policies.
