About The Position

Maple Lodge Farms, Canada’s largest poultry processor, is seeking a Student (Quality Assurance) for a 4-month contract position. Reporting to the QA Manager, this role will assist the Food Safety team in managing the Food Safety Management System (FSMS) to ensure compliance with third-party, customer, internal, and regulatory requirements at the Brampton facility. Requirements

  • Enrolled in a Post Secondary education program.
  • No previous experience is required.
  • Working knowledge of food and meat plant regulatory standards (CFIA, etc.), GMP, HACCP, BRC, food safety, food quality, etc.
  • General Computer Skills (e.g. MS Office) inclusive of working with medium datasets.
  • Ability to work in a slaughter, raw and cooked poultry processing environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and multitasks are essential for success in this role.

Nice To Haves

  • Some experience in statistical analysis is preferred.
  • Relevant food processing experience is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor the [email protected] mailbox and respond to basic requests; escalate more complicated requests to the QA Manager – Food Safety and Quality Programs.
  • Maintain document registers and logbook of changes.
  • Initiate annual document review process with document owners.
  • Circulate documents for collection of signatures for document approval.
  • Post PDF versions of approved documents to FSMS Documentation Drive.
  • Issue Change Communications, save Change Communication records electronically and follow-up with employees that have not completed and/or submitted their Change Communication records.
  • Convert documents in old format into new document templates (Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, Forms, Appendices).
  • Maintain and update the Glass and Brittle Plastic checklist.
  • Assist with record review and / or verification of records during the reassessment of the HACCP plan and Pre-Requisite programs.
  • Report on various metrics as assigned.
  • Assist with various food safety and quality related projects and food safety validations including data entry, tabulating an basic graphing.
  • Assist in other areas as business needs and priorities changes.
  • Adhere/comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
